This long-time family summer cottage is now a year-round Mid-coast Maine vacation cabin. Seanook has a unique vantage point in East Boothbay grandfathered on the beach next to its own rocky point.
Everything here was wonderful. The kids enjoyed the dock and the kayak. We had a great time and are so glad you shared Seanook with us.
I loved being able to escape from crazy things and come to Seanook. The views and the little dock were my favorite parts. I loved walking down to the dock and being so close to the water. Although I do wish the DVD player didn’t fade in and out with movies. Everything else was amazing. This is a beautiful and wonderful place to take in the scenic beauties of Maine. Thank you for the wonderful time.
Everything about Seanook was perfect. My kids loved jumping off the dock every day and catching crabs. We loved all the great places to sit and take in the wonderful views. See you next summer.

Thank you – we enjoyed our stay immensely. This is a phenomenally beautiful spot. There is a lot to offer in the area (especially Boothbay Region Land Trust trails). However, there is no need to leave Seanook once you arrive; the sheer beauty is mesmerizing and sitting still to enjoy it/witness it is hypnotic. We will surely return and may try every season. The windows and decks allow for maximum pleasure.
The work you both do is beautiful. There is clearly nothing Ron can’t do! And I’m thrilled to bring some artwork home, Mary Ellen, to remind me of the tranquility and beauty of this spot. – Until we return!

Coffee in hand on a cold winter morning we look out over the fresh blanket of snow that carpets the shore and prepare to depart. Your caretakers, Mary Ellen & Ron, shared with us the pleasure of your simple way: sea, shore, nature, warmth. We hold that close and wish the same to all who stay in your shelter.
Our weather was sunny and hot the first few days, then fog, then beautiful the last two days. Nevertheless we enjoyed kayaking and sailing on the bay in our own sailboat which we kept on the mooring in the cove; also relaxing on the porch, reading enjoying the peacefulness. The gardens are beautiful. We will be back for that “bonfire.” Looking forward to sharing your art in my home. Thank you for this “Slice of Paradise.”
We especially enjoyed the 4th of July fireworks and the weather was perfect for it; eating lobster; and our pilgrimage to LL Bean in Freeport. Our favorite restaurants were Robinson’s Wharf, Mine Oyster and the sandwiches and lobster rolls from the East Boothbay General Store just up the street were great for lunch! Ron and Mary Ellen are a wealth of local information and recommendations; very kind people, the best hosts ever! Thank you for sharing your lovely cottage and your beautiful state with us!
The smoked oysters from Glidden Point that we had at Mine Oyster restaurant were outstanding. The sunny hot weather (84 degrees!) the first few days were perfect for our sail on the Lazy Jack schooner for Windjammer Days. After that it changed to rain, fog and mist; typical Maine! We filled up on lobsters both at restaurants in town and cooking our own right here. We love relaxing on the deck, the plantings, the quiet peaceful surroundings, and knowing Mary Ellen and Ron. Always a pleasure each time we come!
I spent the morning after our arrival exploring all the nooks and crannies inside this Paradise Cottage and outside – taking it all in! We also took a boat ride around to familiarize ourselves with the region. We especially liked the morning walk across the earthen dam to the East Boothbay General Store, the walk along the coast at Ocean Point, the sunset drive we took on Southport Island and watching the sunset at Newagen Harbor our last night here!! The Botanical Gardens are beautiful. Our little engineer loved the Boothbay Railway Village, and Pemaquid Point. I don’t know how we saw all this in such a brief visit, but I have no regrets! Enjoy your stay!
This is a great place to visit. Spring here is beautiful with sunny days and rain at night! I love the wildlife and the flowers and would love to visit again. The view from my bedroom is “fantastic!” I took a boat ride with my children and grandson. He loved it and I did too!

I know why it is called Paradise Cottage; everything is better than imagined. The kayaking was excellent for the kids in the little bay, and Carey loved creating a fort on the island and a fairy village in the woods behind the cottage. The walk to the General Store was an important way to start our day. The hot tub was a nice surprise. The Botanical Gardens were amazing. Gardens here are beautiful. Thank you so much. We absolutely loved our stay! Weather was beautiful and cottage was perfect. Even more exciting, we got engaged down at the private beach during sunset! We will be back again for sure!
Our third trip to Boothbay, first time at Paradise Cottage. What a darling “find.” Enjoyed the triple lobster dinner with two sides at Fisherman’s Wharf. Breakfast at River’s End (DO NOT order the blueberry pancakes: made from potatoes and tasted medicinal). Loved the Pemaquid lighthouse, lunch (fish & chips) at King Eider Pub in Damariscotta. The Vietnamese Bakery in Boothbay is excellent; we had 2 eggs, bacon, toast, coffee & and an apple fritter, DELICIOUS…. The soup is good too. We grilled steaks, baked potatoes, had salad & blueberry pie for supper one night. We ate on the deck and enjoyed the weather, the water and each other. Mary Ellen, we loved Paradise Cottage; it truly is.
Another wonderful weekend! So great to finally see Paradise Cottage; just lovely. Thank you Mary Ellen & Ron. We are always so glad that you two open these beautiful homes to others; it is our favorite place to be. We will see you again really soon. Thank you again.

We just had to come back to Paradise and brought friends Deb & Amy from Portland Me, with us. They fell in love as well. Enjoyed bird watching – saw young bald eagle, black guillemot, loons, eiders and others. Gorgeous sunsets and many shooting stars. I believe you’ll be seeing us all again. We’ve just spent our 3rd weekend at Seanook, the second one in 2013. Once again we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It now feels to us like we’re “coming home” to Seanook. Ron and Mary Ellen add so much to that experience. The weather was a little non-cooperative this time, but despite the blustery winds and occasional rain, we had a lot of sunshine, stunning sunsets, and crisp, clear nights with amazing stars! We were blown away by the number of flowers still in full bloom along with the vivid colors of fall foliage. We love it here and we will be back.
When I get out of the car from my three hour drive to Seanook from NH, it is truly like coming home. There is everything here one needs for rest, peace, and true downtime. Ron and Mary Ellen are the model hosts who have made every one of my stays rich, warm, memorable, and worth all the effort to get here. By the end of 2013, I will have been here 5 times. Can’t think of anywhere else I would rather be!
The three musketeers arrived at 5:30pm after driving through heavy rain and hail from NH. We ate a wonderful dinner with champagne, then to the hot tub. One of us forgot a bathing suit so we all went in our underwear under lightening-filled skies. Friday we had a wine tasting then went to Boothbay Harbor – great buys. Came back and had a scotch tasting. Saturday we went to Ocean Point for a picnic. Incredible! Excellent! Thank you, Ron and Mary Ellen.
Thank you for your hospitality. We have felt very welcome and comfortable here and have tried to enjoy as many different vistas as possible! This is a relaxing and tranquil venue which all can appreciate. Excellent walks locally!

Seanook is pure bliss. There is nowhere like it in the world. We visited in the midst of the cold Maine winter and it was utterly magical. It is clean, cozy, peaceful and breathtakingly beautiful. Mary Ellen and Ron are so welcoming and warm. If you get the chance to book Seanook, don’t miss it.
A very welcomed time of renewal and nurturing of our souls this November as we spent several days at Seanook. The home was spotless with very creative touches throughout to include a sense of bringing nature inside with many different plants.
The ebb and flow of the bay was mesmerizing ; it was easy to get lost in ones thoughts sitting on one of the many porches or the sunroom sipping a cup of morning coffee.
Beautiful hikes are so accessible; each day we explored several of the nearby preserves.
A very special place indeed!
We stayed at Seanook for a week in late August/early September. It was just what we needed to calm our frayed nerves from months of hibernation. We could feel the stress melt away from the moment we sat on the porch overlooking the water that first evening, An added bonus was a gorgeous sunset from that spot – actually over several evenings. Coffee in the sunroom each morning was a charming way to start the day as we watched the fishing boats depart.
The kitchen is well equipped to handle meals cooked there or take in. I enjoyed meals from the grill that I didn’t have to prepare😋
We enjoyed our chats with Ron and Mary Ellen as we learned of good hikes and sightseeing spots and the best places to get “lobstah.” Truly a delightful stay. We look forward to a repeat visit.

Our weather at Paradise Cottage was picture perfect! Cool breezy mornings, hot sunny afternoons, and comfortable evenings all week long! We loved it all: kayaking, sightseeing, antiquing, exploring the shops downtown, taking in all the area had to offer – rock hopping at Pemaquid Point, relaxing here in the beautiful gardens overlooking the glistening water, and taking in the community band concert on the library lawn. Relaxing and unwinding …. ahhh…. Botanical Gardens! Hot tub in the cool of the evening.
Fisherman’s wharf – good food with outdoor seating. Watershed Tavern – old fashioned tavern with its own brewery. Best flat-bread pizza ever!
Wonderful accommodations. Mary Ellen is a lovely hostess. Her art and gardens are inspiring. We never did have that bonfire, so I guess we’ll have to come back next year. This is truly a piece of Paradise and we felt blessed to share in it. Thank you Ron and Mary Ellen. This was a perfect place for us.
